Tens of thousands of trade unionists, anti-war activists, environmentalists and many other workers and youth will demonstrate in Evian, France against the agenda which drove the Iraq war. The G8 acts as a board of management for global capitalism. The World Bank, IMF and the WTO implement their policies which centre on privatisation and deregulation in the dash for profits and debt repayments. With Bush, Blair and Berlusconi going to Evian, there will be global protest against both the occupation of Iraq and corporate globalisation. Socialists will be there representing the millions of ordinary people who aim to wrest control of the world' s resources away from those represented at the G8 summit. The massive anti-war movement was swelled by anti-capitalist protesters. Many will now be going to Evian from Sunday 1 June.
