TUC lobby

THE LOBBY of the health unions at the TUC organised by UNISON health branches has caused the union leadership to get active. Not in support of the idea of a national demo against the cuts in the NHS, but in threatening to discipline union members who dared to organise the lobby in the first place!

Letters have been sent to UNISON branch officers in London and Wakefield, saying that "the use of any resources financial or otherwise (in connection with the lobby) is in contravention of UNISON rules."

This from a leadership who said at a recent health executive meeting that organising a national demo would "take up too much of the staff's time." This hasn't stopped them using the same staff's time to leap into action against those activists who do want to do something.

Witch-hunts against activists won't stop the cuts. Instead it will encourage the bosses to continue their policies of cuts and privatisation. As you can see from the photo the lobby happened anyway.
