Barking BNP don't oppose council cutsAROUND THE country, angry protesters are storming council chambers and socialist councillors are voting against cuts. In contrast, the far-right BNP in Barking and Dagenham in east London have openly said that they do not oppose cuts. They walked out of the budget-deciding council meeting on the grounds that they had not been given enough time to put forward an alternative budget, and that they didn't understand "the budget workings" without help. But this incompetence is not the most significant thing about their statement. Their leader Richard Barnbrook said they walked out rather than "rubber stamp" the budget - overlooking the option of voting against it. He then went on to explain: "we needed to know the budget workings before we started suggesting cuts and savings".
