UK unemployment rose by 27,000 in the three months to the end of January 2011, to 2.53 million jobless people – the highest since 1994.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) says the jobless rate is now 8%, the highest since 1996. The unemployment rate for 16-24 year olds is up by 0.8% to 20.6%.
