Coventry - youngest election candidate speaks out
Coventry Socialist Party website interviewed 18-year old Dan Crowter, Socialist Alternative candidate for Wainbody in Coventry.
Dan is the youngest candidate of any party in the Coventry local elections.
Dan said:
"It's clear from the phenomenal turnout on the protests and walkouts last year that young people are not as apathetic as the media likes to portray them, but they feel disenfranchised and betrayed by politics and politicians.
"It's totally understandable that they do, considering they're not allowed to vote until 18, and they see mainstream politicians being economical with the truth and breaking promises all the time - and it doesn't help that all of the main parties are saying the same thing ".
The Socialist Party in Coventry is standing in every seat across the city.
Dan assured: "We will stick up for YOU, not the rich! Our councillors were the only ones to vote against cuts and in support of free education.
"Our councillors were the only councillors from any party to attend the protests against fees.
"As a party we are the only one to say that there should be NO cuts - why should we pay for a crisis that the bankers caused?"
