Picture slide show: Marking ten years since the invasion of Afghanistan
To mark ten years of the war and occupation in Afghanistan, 3,000 people took part in the Stop the War Trafalgar Square rally on Saturday 8 October.
Former soldier Joe Glenton, who was locked up for refusing to serve in Afghanistan for a second time, opened the rally.
Other speakers included trade union leaders Mark Campbell from the University and College Union, who called for strike action against imperialist intervention, and Billy Hayes from the Communication Workers Union.
Campaigning journalist John Pilger attacked the misleading reporting of wars, such as the Nato assault in Libya, by capitalist newspapers and called for civil disobedience. The rally was followed by a demo to Downing Street.
