Standing ovation for Tony Mulhearn at GMB manufacturing conference

Tony Mulhearn, from the Liverpool 47 councillors who stood up to the Tory government in the 1980s, spoke today as an invited guest at the GMB manufacturing conference and received a standing ovation.

Tony spoke about the determined 1980s’ Liverpool struggle and also about his recent mayoral election campaign in Liverpool where he stood as an anti-cuts candidate as part of the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC). In his speech he advocated the building of a new mass workers’ party, and spoke of the need for a socialist society.
