Suspension of Remploy industrial action

Extract from statement issued by Remploy trade union consortium:

Remploy Consortium of trade unions met on 2nd August to discuss the industrial action being taken across Remploy.

Over the last two weeks 80% of workers did not attend work on the allocated strike days. The Consortium thanks everyone involved.

The Consortium are now developing a new strategy which will have more effect on the government. So the strike on Monday 6th is now suspended in order to hold consultations with our members.

The overtime ban is continuous and the members should not work beyond their normal contracted hours.

The consortium is advising members to have factory meetings on Monday 6th August or Tuesday 7th, we want all our members to discuss in detail the IC1 and IC2 forms and the present situation in detail.

The consortium will be calling for demonstrations in London and other city centres and a special leaflet on the Olympics is available.

THE FIGHT GOES ON. WE INTEND TO SET UP REGIONAL REMPLOY SUPPORT GROUPS IN EVERY CITY AND TOWN AND WE ARE ALSO FIGHTING TO BRING ABOUT A FAIR AND EQUITABLE RESULT FOR THIS DISPUTE.

Yours fraternally
Phil Davies, Consortium Secretary
Kevin Hepworth, Consortium Chair
