Middlesbrough byelection TUSC candidate John Malcolm says: "As an NHS community nurse I see first-hand the devastation brought about by the Con-Dem government's policy of cuts and privatisation within all public services but particularly in the NHS.
"In Middlesbrough working class communities are facing an onslaught as the mayor Ray Mallon continues the policy of savage cuts. He has earmarked 111 council services to be axed next year. Where is the fightback from Labour Councillors? Nowhere.
"I am a member of the Socialist Party which is part of TUSC, and as such, if elected as MP, I promise to only take the average wage of a skilled worker. I also promise to have only one job - as your MP."
