Support the Shrewsbury pickets
Ricky Tomlinson's announcement that the Justice for the Shrewsbury Pickets Campaign has launched a petition to secure the release of state documents, deserves maximum support.
This could be vital in proving the innocence of the building workers who were framed and jailed at the insistence of the big building conglomerates in the early 1970s for alleged conspiracy under an Act introduced in the 13th century.
Following on from the magnificent success of the campaign to secure justice for the Hillsborough 96, and now the investigation into the unlawful activity of the Metropolitan and South Yorkshire police during the miners' strike when hundreds of miners were framed, 'people power' has shown that even the most corrupt bodies of the state can ultimately be held accountable.
Hopefully the Shrewsbury Pickets petition will assist in righting the wrong perpetrated 40 years ago and, in addition, send a clear message to present-day abusers of political power that they ultimately will be held accountable.
