Support the socialist with a May Day greeting

International Workers’ Day, 1 May, is the time to show international solidarity with all workers and young people struggling against oppression and for decent living conditions. Every year we appeal to all our readers to give a May Day greeting either as an individual or through a campaigning group that you are involved in.

May Day greetings in the socialist help show the solidarity of people fighting for a socialist world, while also giving financial support to the socialist. This year’s May Day appeal aims for a record number of greetings.

Iain Dalton reports how Huddersfield Socialist Party members are organising to get May Day messages:

“The May Day greetings appeal 2007 is very important, as the Socialist Party plans to update its printing resources this year. As well as a greeting from your own branch, you should aim to get greetings from local trade union branches, campaign groups, ISR groups and Socialist Students societies.

“In Huddersfield we’ve drawn up a list of all the groups which we’ve been involved with or supported throughout the past year. We’re aiming to get at least four groups to send greetings this year, reflecting the influence and esteem the Socialist Party has gained locally in the last twelve months.

“The Socialist Students’ society at Huddersfield university is having weekly collections at meetings to pay for a £15 greeting, we’ve already raised £10.”
