Bradshaw supports MP de-selection when he benefits

A headline screamed: One senior MP (Ben Bradshaw) stormed out of a heated session of the Parliamentary Labour Party (PLP) addressed by Jeremy Corbyn, protesting that the meeting had been a “total f***ing shambles”.

Who is this man leading the charge against Corbyn? Bradshaw came last in the election for deputy leader.

Bradshaw was selected to contest the marginal seat of Exeter at the 1997 general election after the first choice candidate was deselected by the local Labour party on instructions from Labour party headquarters.

Bradshaw hates the notion of de-selection but didn’t protest when he was the beneficiary.

He:

  • Voted for the use of UK military forces in combat operations overseas
  • Consistently voted for the Iraq war
  • Voted for replacing Trident with a new nuclear weapons system
  • Voted for more EU \’integration\’
  • Voted for introducing foundation hospitals
  • Voted for university tuition fees
  • Defended car parking fees at NHS hospitals at a time when Wales was removing them.

Bradshaw possesses the impeccable credentials of a Blairite dedicated to austerity. Him and his colleagues should either join the Tory benches or form their own party. Jeremy Corbyn could then concentrate on building a real party of the working class.
