Socialism 2007

Make Socialism 2007 an unforgettable weekend

Socialism 2007 is fast approaching and is shaping up to be the best Socialism event yet. More and more people are questioning the system we live under and looking for an alternative. Let's make sure that they are able to come to Socialism 2007 to discuss the socialist alternative.

Greg Maughan

By now, all active Socialist Party members should have bought their tickets. If this hasn't been done yet, please do so as soon as possible. Any money not paid in yet should be sent without delay either online at socialism2007.net or by a cheque made out to 'Socialism' and posted to PO Box 24697, London E11 1YD.

Once you have got your ticket have a think about who else would be interested in coming. Who has supported your campaigning work in the past? Who votes alongside you in trade union branches? Who buys the socialist from you? Who do you natter to about politics during your break? Ask them to come to Socialism 2007.

Campaign material is available now. If you need leaflets or posters for promoting Socialism 2007 then just email socialism@socialistparty.org.uk and we will sent it out to you.

Do not worry about running out of material - you should distribute it as far and as wide as possible. If you need more we can send it out to you.

University freshers' fairs offer a key opportunity to talk to young people who want to change the way the world works and who could be interested in coming to Socialism 2007. Make sure that Socialism 2007 is advertised throughout university campuses, that all students we speak to at the freshers' fairs are given a leaflet for Socialism 2007 and that you sell tickets to all students who show an interest in socialist ideas.

Socialism 2007, in terms of the speakers and the programme for the weekend, is shaping up to be memorable and a positive step up from the successes of the previous few years.

However, the event will only do that in terms of attendance if Socialist Party branches have clear plans of action that include lists of people to approach, extra public work and a concerted effort to get your ticket sales targets. That responsibility falls on to all Socialist Party members' shoulders, so let's make sure that we achieve it.

Accommodation for the evening of Saturday 17 November is available in the Generator hostel in central London. At only £20 for the night, including breakfast and a bar open until 3am, the Generator is a bargain.

Hostel spaces can be booked online or by cheque via the post. If you have any queries about the hostel accommodation or any other aspect of Socialism 2007 then please call 020 8988 8768.
