Rail safety disputes
Rail union RMT signalling and supervisory members have voted to strike over safety and the imposition of new working conditions by Network Rail.
54% voted for strike action and 77% voted for action short of a strike on a turnout of 71%.
This result is being discussed by the RMT executive on 25 March.
As we reported last week, 77% of 12,000 rail maintenance staff have voted to strike over job cuts. Negotiations on this dispute are still continuing with Network Rail.
The Office of Rail Regulation have already criticised Network Rail's plans because of the risk to safety they pose.
