"Not making sufficient profit"

FOUNDATION TRUSTS, nestling within the NHS, are businesses that see profit as their priority rather than patient need.

If you think this is exaggerating, just look at some minutes leaked from a senior doctors' meeting at a foundation trust.

The minutes say: "The chief executive and chairman had been asked to attend a meeting at Monitor's office in London to explain the Trust's financial position. [Monitor is the 'regulator' of the foundation trusts - eds]

"Monitor informed them that the Trust was in breach of its authorisation as a Foundation Trust if it did not meet the targets it had previously declared. There were one or two specific areas where the Trust was seen as not making sufficient profit."

Save the NHS from capitalist privatisers and their bean-counters!
