Fighting workfare - YFJ to target McDonalds

Paul Callanan, national organiser of Youth Fight for Jobs said: "After the success of the demonstration at Westfield shopping centre in East London on Saturday we are now going to step up the action.

"McDonalds made £1.08 billion in profits last year. In spite of this they have chosen to take part in the government slave labour work programme.

"We will protesting tonight at McDonalds in Whitehall, Central London, the protest will start at 6pm.

We are calling on all companies to pull out of the scheme. We are fighting for a programme of genuine job creation.

The unemployed should not be punished for the crisis caused by the bankers and the super rich. We are building a movement to demand a future".
