Socialist Party Malaysia facing brutality

Police in Malaysia have arrested around 30 supporters of Socialist Party of Malaysia (PSM) with the charge that they are reviving the 'communism' of the Malaysian Communist Party.

Attacks on the PSM started when the PSM launched a campaign called 'Enough BN, Retire Now!' (the BN is the National Front government).

This is a desperate and brutal attempt of the government to victimise the PSM. The PSM has said that 'during visits to the detainees they reported that they were being harassed and mentally tortured'.

They are denied their rights by being put in solitary confinement; denied legal representatives, medication and sufficient drinking water.

The PSM are the main targets of the government crackdown at this stage, as well as the BERSIH movement.

See http://www.socialistworld.net/doc/5168 for more information and details for sending protests.
