"Inspired and informed"

On behalf of all of us who travelled up to Socialism 2006 from Devon - we all enjoyed it immensely, being stirred, inspired and informed in equal measures.

We would like to thank everyone involved in making Socialism 2006 the success it was, be they speakers, stewards, paper-sellers, contributors to debates, people on stalls, people involved in the organisational and administrative aspects, luggers of boxes and chairs etc.

Especially we would like to thank our visitors from overseas, particularly Sri Lanka. Along with the Saturday night rally, the Sunday session on Sri Lanka is something I will never forget. The sacrifices made by our Sri Lankan comrades stands as an inspiration to us all as socialists.

I would urge all socialists and trade unionists to contribute funds to the United Socialist Party in Sri Lanka to enable them to continue their vital work (carried out courageously in extremely difficult and dangerous circumstances) fostering unity of the working class and poor masses in a nation afflicted by devastating sectarian conflict.
