Remploy try to close factories

REMPLOY HAS announced that it is to shut more than half of its manufacturing sites. As part of a "growth plan", 43 sites are due to close with the loss of 2,500 jobs for disabled people.

The factory hit-list is primarily in the more socially deprived areas of the country where job opportunities for disabled and non-disabled alike are worse than the national average.

A meeting of TGWU, GMB and Amicus joint shop stewards will meet on 12 June to consider action to defend these jobs.
