Glasgow Unison
International Socialists/CWI member Brian Smith has won the election for branch secretary of Glasgow City Unison. Brian Smith polled 990 votes against 891 votes for the current branch secretary Carol Ball - the turnout was 14%.
This is a significant victory and underlines the base of support that CWI members have built as a result of leading battles over single status over the last couple of years. Glasgow is the biggest Unison branch in Scotland with around 14,000 members.
