PCS has played a vital role in countering the government’s austerity plans, particularly on pensions. This means it is vitally important that the union retains its fighting left leadership.

Elections for the union’s national executive committee (NEC) are under way, finishing on 10 May. Socialist Party members are standing, along with other Left Unity candidates, as part of the Democratic Alliance slate. PCS members should vote for these candidates, a full list is on the Left Unity website: http://www.leftunity.org.uk/ downloads/2012/elections/recommendation.doc.

The Socialist Party members standing are: President – Janice Godrich, Vice-President: John McInally, NEC members – Mark Baker, Kevin Greenway, Emily Kelly, Marion Lloyd and Chris Morrison.
