Help with the Socialist sales campaign

The Socialist sales campaign is well underway with Socialist Party members in different areas trying to find new ways to get our important news, analysis and strategy out to as many people as possible.

Send reports of the campaign from your area to [email protected]. Here’s one from the South West region of the Socialist Party

The exceptionally poor weather in the South West over the last couple of months meant that several of our regular Saturday campaign stalls had to be cancelled at short notice.

This, coupled with the fact that many of our members aren’t around on Saturdays due to having to work, has led us to trying new ways of bringing our ideas to working class people in the South West, including by selling the Socialist.

Outside workplaces or transport hubs where it’s often difficult to erect stalls, we’ve managed without one and sold the Socialist to passers-by.

Retired member Patrick in Bristol sells at least half a dozen, sometimes more, at his regular train station sale.

Members in Exeter have begun to emulate him at the bus station, while in Plymouth a whole host of sales take place, some with stalls where possible, some without where necessary.

Members in Gloucester sell weekly at the council offices, again without a table, while one of our veterans ventures over to Cheltenham College whenever he can and sells on his own.

Growing anger towards the Tories is expressing itself in growing interest in the Socialist. During the local election campaigns we’ll sell on all the rush hour bus stops in central Bristol and at the local football grounds.

Having a well-decorated table is obviously our preferred option, but where that’s not easy to do, we’ve found that displaying the Socialist with an audacious approach will get us sales almost anywhere.
