Ireland: fighting for LGBT rights North and South

20,000 marched in Belfast on 13 June for marriage equality in Northern Ireland. This follows from the successful referendum for marriage equality in the South earlier last month. Also in the South, the Employment Equality Bill, proposed by Socialist Party (CWI Ireland) TDs in the Dáil, was passed. The Bill ends the right of religiously controlled schools and hospitals to discriminate on grounds of religious ethos.
