Far right frustrated and embarrassed in Newcastle

The far-right English Defence League demonstrated against refugees in Newcastle. Crowds quickly gathered as Socialist Party members took to the megaphone, putting forward our programme. Petty divisions and hatred were no match for our demands to undertake a mass council house building project, a 10 an hour minimum wage, and nationalisation.

Stop the war on the Kurds!

A horror is being perpetrated on Kurdish people in south east Turkey. Since summer 2015, the Turkish government has declared curfews in seven provinces, enforced by tanks and heavy artillery. There have been hundreds of deaths and arrests, and a massacre in the town of Cizre.

Refugees and asylum seekers in Middlesbrough, Teesside, have been experiencing daily abuse and attack. Their homes were marked out with red-painted doors. Meanwhile in Cardiff, a private housing firm has been marking the asylum seekers it accommodates with compulsory red wristbands.
