Solidarity appeal for ‘Occupy Seattle’, USA

Jordan Martinez, Seattle Central Community College student

On Saturday 15 October, Occupy Seattle reached its peak mobilised support with upwards of 5,000 demonstrators, coinciding with a stunning retaking with tents of Westlake Park in the heart of downtown Seattle.

This Saturday, 29 October marks a new development for the local Occupy movement with the bold moving of the occupation to Seattle Central Community College.

However, the president of Seattle Central – Paul Killpatrick – has been anything but welcoming thus far to the movement, which has already signaled its support for fighting tuition increases and budget cuts.

In the face of growing repression of Occupy movements nationally, and the critical juncture that Occupy Seattle now faces, we are urgently appealing for support from activists, workers and students in Seattle, around the US and internationally.

Call and/or email Seattle Central Community College president Paul Killpatrick to tell him:

  • Support OccupySeattle!
  • Allow no police harassment of students, faculty, or other demonstrators camping out in front of Seattle Central Community College
