Jet tanker drivers' strike - latest news
The Wincanton employed tanker drivers deliver 20% of all fuel to Jet forecourts. The week long strike has had a massive impact.
Jet dealers have accused ConocoPhillips of failing to plan any contingency for the strike and as a result "it's been mad here today" reported the boss of a company operating 54 Jet branded sites.
Wincanton called for talks with the union Unite, but failed to give the guarantee that the drivers are seeking of job security and written assurance that TUPE will apply in the event of contract changes.
ConocoPhillips, the client, claim they have no direct involvement but then say "we are working to bring the strike to an end."
The strike is solid at all three depots with support flooding in from other Unite drivers' branches. The union has served notice of a further week-long strike starting on Thursday morning.
The only disappointment for the drivers is that due to the anti-union laws, they will have to go back to work for two days before continuing the strike.
