National Gallery workers strike

PCS members at the National Gallery in London struck for two hours on Friday 27 July, in protest at redundancies to gallery assistants who help the public and protect the valuable collection.

This follows a 15% cut to the gallery’s funding. The workers were joined by other PCS members from nearby offices and were addressed by, amongst others, PCS assistant general secretary Chris Baugh, who told the workers they were protecting not only their jobs but also the public interest.

To support these workers, send a letter of protest to:

Nicholas Penny (Director of the National Gallery), National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, London WC2N 5DN.

Further action is planned if management refuses to back down.
