Campaigners say “Stop Scrooging” to Foyles
Campaigners are asking flagship London bookshop Foyles to pay the London Living Wage to all its staff this Christmas. Currently a number of booksellers at the iconic shop earn less than this figure, calculated to reflect a bare subsistence income. A petition has been set up online, and is being promoted by the campaign in the run-up to the festive season.
Petition organiser Lindsay Woods said: “Foyles are currently the Scrooge of bookselling. We’re asking them to give their workers a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work”.
