Warrington TUSC

Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC) councillor Kevin Bennett has slammed proposals by Labour-led Warrington borough council that over 8,000 more should be spent on new chairperson 'allowances'.

Kevin said: "After years of cuts to jobs and services made by this administration, they are now advocating that even more council members receive an extra allowance on top of their basic councillor allowance.

"I find this very distasteful when even more cuts will be implemented over the coming years.

"This smacks of 'snouts in the trough'.

"The 8,000 would probably go halfway to pay for an extra youth worker on the streets of Warrington."
