The demonstration at the Tory Party conference is just one point where the anger against austerity will burst out. Jeremy Corbyn’s election as leader of the Labour Party is a crack in the monopoly that big-business has on politics. Tens of thousands demonstrated for an end to the refugee crisis, showing the idea of international solidarity is alive and well.
But how can this pressure for an alternative be converted into a real change in the situation?
Corbyn’s opposition to cuts, privatisation and war is an extremely positive step forward.
Committed activists
But a single person, whether they’re Jeremy Corbyn, me or you, can’t change society, no matter how high they climb or how hard they shout at the TV. To do it we’ve got to build an organisation that coordinates the efforts of lots of committed activists and arms them with socialist ideas.
