West London Socialist Party: 100 years since the October revolution in Russia
Thursday 2nd November 2017, 7.30pm
West London Trades Union Club, 33-35 High Street Acton, London W3 6ND
October 1917 was the greatest event in history. For the first time, ordinary people took power and began to construct a new society based on human needs and not profit. But the ruling class, in Britain and internationally, have tried to bury what happened in an avalanche of lies, distortion and misinformation. We'll be clarifying issues such as: How were the working class able to take power? How was this event different from a military coup? What was the role of Lenin, Trotsky and the Bolshevik Party? Were they trying to create a one-party state? Why was this revolution successful when so many others in the last 100 years have failed? As usual there will be plenty of time for discussion and any other questions.
