The result of the US presidential election, held on Tuesday 3 November, will not be known until after the Socialist has been printed. The result could be considerably delayed by the counting of an unprecedented number of postal ballots before the tally of Electoral College votes – that, constitutionally, determine which candidate wins rather than the total popular vote – is declared.

Additionally, if the vote is close, legal appeals – against a backdrop of possible street protests – could delay the result still further. Readers should therefore return to our website for updates on the outcome, including comment from the Socialist Party’s co-thinkers in the US, the Independent Socialist Group.
