National meeting on Single Status

UNISON MEMBERS at Coventry City council are continuing their strike action against the implementation of the Single Status regrading agreement.

Two groups of members, parking attendants and workers at Holbrooks primary school, voted unanimously to take action. UNISON have made it clear that more groups will be balloted unless the council gets back round the table to discuss the issues.

Coventry district UNISON has also called a national Single Status Activists Crisis Meeting to discuss the way forward for those involved in this campaign. All UNISON branches should send representatives to this important event.

The fact that a branch has been forced to call a meeting of this type says a lot about UNISON’s national leadership, who have failed to give any sort of lead on this critical issue. We need a fighting leadership, not one that is happy to cosy up to the Labour government whilst our members’ jobs and pay are under attack.
