Network Rail forced to make new offer
Planned strike action on Network Rail by the RMT union has forced the employer to double its pay offer for 2015.
Network Rail has now proposed a 2% consolidated increase for 2015, backdated to 1 January, and an increase matching the November 2015 Retail Price Index inflation measure for 2016.
There would also be no compulsory redundancies before 31 January 2016.
The previous offer was 1% for 2015 and 1.4% for 2016, which was rejected by reps at a national meeting on 28 May.
The RMT had planned a 24 hour and a 48 hour strike, but action is now suspended.
A reps' meeting on 5 June will consider the offer.
