Iberian political school

Members of Socialismo Revolucionario (CWI, Spain and Portugal) recently held a successful weekend school to discuss the major political issues gripping the peninsula, including the national question in the Spanish state and the recent Catalan referendum.

There was also a public ‘European forum’ attended by over 40 people; speakers included Irish Socialist Party member and Anti-Austerity Alliance TD (MP) Paul Murphy, who put forward a programme for defeating the capitalists’ austerity attacks on the working class.


Hong Kong: Socialist Action steps up election campaigning

Members of Socialist Action (CWI, Hong Kong) have been hitting the city’s streets with a vibrant display of posters in support of their candidate Sally Tang Mei-ching contesting the forthcoming district council elections


USA: Happy birthday Kshama

A successful Socialist Alternative fundraising election campaign social event was held on the birthday of the party’s incumbent Seattle councillor, Kshama Sawant. The 3 November election will pitch Socialist Alternative (SA) against the Democratic Party.

Kshama and SA has been to the fore in successfully championing a $15 an hour minimum wage, and campaigning for rent controls against the vested interests of big business and its Democratic Party allies in the city.
