Sprint finish for fighting fund in Nottingham as the quarter enters home straight

Socialist Party member Jean Thorpe in Nottingham has entered a ten kilometre run to raise money for the fighting fund. As Jean said on the sponsor form: “This is my first run since school. As well as doing this to get fit, I am hoping to raise money for the Socialist Party’s campaign to defend public services.”

Jean asked for sponsors where she could: at work, at labour movement meetings and on the Socialist paper round that Jean and Gary Freeman do each week. Other Socialist Party members also helped.

Sponsorship ranged from 20p to £2 a kilometre and over £180 was paid in advance; £204 has now been collected and when all the money is in, it will total £447!
