What We Saw

Socialist Liverpool FC supporters' group Spirit of Shankly recently unveiled its new banner. As well as combining Liverpool and Everton colours, the banner prominently features Jeremy Corbyn and John McDonnell. It also backs foodbanks and carries union endorsements.

Iconic nightclub Fabric closes doors - another victim of austerity?

The scale of the obesity crisis in the UK is vast. The 2014 official Health Survey for England showed that 61.7% of adults were overweight or obese. 31.2% of children aged two to 15 were also either overweight or obese.

Barcelona 1936: the people's Olympics

For a brief moment 80 years ago, in a hint of what Spain as a whole would become, Barcelona became the focus of opposition to fascism. In July 1936, 6,000 athletes arrived in the city, greeted by banners and bunting welcoming them. They were no ordinary athletes; the socialist hurdlers and the anarchist shot putters were there for the Olimpiada Popular, the People's Olympiad.
