Video: Housing for the Counihan’s – Housing for All

This video tells the story of the Counihan-Sanchez family. Antony Counihan is a bus driver earning £400 a week, but their total household income is not enough to cover the cost of renting in the private sector so they rely on housing benefits to make ends meet.

They got their housing benefit cut completely and were told they owed £76,000. This led to their evictions from their accommodation in Brent.

The Counihan-Sanchez family are an example of what many families face in April 2013, when the bedroom tax and benefit cap are being introduced.

The family decided to join forces with other supporters in Brent to fight back.
