St Helens council: Making cuts while hoarding reserves

A recent application by myself under the Freedom of Information Act to the local council here in St Helens revealed a reserve of £89 million. This week this same council has announced £25 million worth of cuts. It also stated it has lost 42% in revenue since 2010.

It begs the question how it has managed to amass this huge surplus while closing libraries and swimming baths, plus the loss of personnel.

The council is overwhelmingly Labour. The councillors shout from the rooftops about the loss of revenue then meekly lay down and carry out vile Con-Dem policies with not a word for those affected, while stacking up these reserves.

The Socialist Party in St Helens will be protesting on 5th March so that we leave these elected members in no doubt that we oppose ALL CUTS.
