Swansea anti-austerity march

Around 500 people took the streets of Swansea on 13 June to march against austerity. The pouring rain did nothing to dampen the spirit or anger of the marchers fed up with shouldering the burden of a Tory government hell bent on driving the working class into the ground.

The cuts passed on to the working class from Westminster and the Welsh Labour Government are crippling. If allowed to continue, not only people’s health and wellbeing will be threatened but also the sustainability of local government, further education and the NHS.

Protests and rallies are an important ingredient of the fightback, but we also need to escalate our action with a call to the TUC for a one-day general strike! It’s the working class that keeps Britain functioning but despite this the rich keep getting richer and we keep getting poorer. We need to show the Tories who really have the power and bring this weak government down.
