27 November demo, Coventry

Support Jaguar Workers

THE CAMPAIGN to keep the production of Jaguar cars in Coventry steps up
a gear next month. Jaguar workers plan to hold the biggest march and rally
ever seen in Coventry on Saturday 27 November.

Dave Griffiths, Coventry Socialist Party

It is being organised by the TGWU, Amicus and GMB trade unions as part
of a national campaign to save manufacturing jobs and keep car production
at the Browns Lane factory.

Organisers are hoping for the support of tens of thousands of people.
They hope it will be "a fantastic show of strength and solidarity
against Ford’s decision."

The march is long overdue. In Coventry anger at Ford’s proposed closure
and redundancies has been running high for weeks as we witness the
deindustrialisation of our city. Given it is nearly two months since
Ford’s announcement it is vital that this mood is tapped to provide huge
support for Jaguar workers in their fight.

Jaguar workers have petitioned in the city centre and received great
backing, while Coventry Socialist Party continue to get a strong response
from Coventry workers while campaigning for action to "Save the Cat
from the Fat Cats".
