Jarrow marchers win full retreat from council
South Tyneside Labour council has backed down on its demand to the Jarrow march (against umemployment) to pay over £2,500 to exercise the right to demonstrate (see notebook entry on 26.9.11).
The Guardian has carried articles two days running, firstly reporting on the council's charge, and then on the council retreating:
