NEU and NASUWT teacher members at the Coventry Foundation Trust took strike action on 9 January over the removal of all teachers from the Teachers’ Pension Scheme – meaning an effective 12% pay cut and a threat to ‘fire and rehire’ teaching staff. A further eight days of strike action is planned over January.

Teachers on the picket line were  determined to fight this atrocious attack on their pay and pensions, making the retention and recruitment of new teachers more difficult.

According to Coventry NEU, the organisation has a bloated management structure with outrageous salaries at the top of the trust.

What was clear from talking to those teachers on the picket line was that they are determined to fight these attacks on their conditions of service.
