Thousands of university staff in Unison including cleaners, administrators, library, catering and security workers are striking in a dispute over pay. At Winchester Uni, pickets were in good spirits having smashed the ballot threshold and the Socialist Party was out in force with pickets around the campus. Pickets were angry at the measly imposed pay rise saying: “I’ve got less in my pay packet than before.” Pickets were lifted by the strikes of RMT and CWU members. “The university here has spent millions on a new building then say there is no money for staff. We hope our stand will encourage others members to reach the threshold and join the strike alongside UCU as well.”
