Press release:

Defend Ian Pattison against police harassment

Ian Pattison, Leeds University Against Cuts press officer

Ian Pattison, Leeds University Against Cuts press officer

Ian Pattison, Press Officer for the Leeds University occupation and a member of the Socialist Party has become the victim of a campaign of police harassment.

The occupation was served with a notice ordering them to leave the university immediately. Ian was personally served with an injunction holding him responsible for anything that happens on the demonstration in Leeds tomorrow.

Ian has played a key role in the occupation along with many other activists in Leeds University Against the Cuts singling him out is clearly part of a campaign of police bullying aimed at scaring students off protesting at the ConDem government attacks on the right to an education.

We need to get messages of support from as many Trade Unionists, campaigners and students as possible to Ian and to the occupation.

We also need to get complaints in to the police in Leeds demanding that they stop harassing Ian immediately.

We need to show the police that we will not take these attacks lying down and that we will stand up for the democratic right to protest.
