The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has called a special Congress for 9 December to respond to the undemocratic, anti-union, Strikes (Minimum Service Levels) Act. Supposedly to prevent Christmas disruption, the Tory government has announced further details of planned attacks, which would mean employers can issue a ‘work notice’ instructing trade unions and their members to organise and carry out strike-breaking work.

Rob Williams, NSSN Chair, said: “We believe that the TUC must now enact its motion agreed at its Congress in September, that stated ‘Congress pledges 100% solidarity with any trade unions attacked under these MSL laws’ and included to ‘support demonstrations and hold a national march opposing the legislation and calling for repeal of the anti-union laws’. The Special Congress must explore options for non-compliance and resistance. This must be implemented now.”
