Isai Marijerla, Socialist Party treasurer
At Socialism 2023 you will have the opportunity to discuss ideas that can change the world.
You will have the opportunity to practically help in that struggle by joining the Socialist Party, but whether or not you decide to join immediately, at the Saturday night rally you will have the opportunity to donate to the Socialism fighting fund appeal.
One third of the appeal will go to the Committee for a Workers’ International, the socialist international to which the Socialist Party is affiliated. The horrors of the Israeli state onslaught on Gaza underline the desperate need for mass working-class organisations in both Palestine and Israel, struggling for socialism. The money that you donate can help fund attempts to try to link up with socialists in Palestine, Israel, and other countries around the world, to begin to build such organisations.
In the mass demonstrations in Britain the demand on our placards to ‘build a mass working-class alternative to Sunak and Starmer’ is getting a lot of support. There are many on the demonstrations who really identify with this and support the call for a new workers’ party.
The crisis in the Tory party and the lack of an alternative from Labour shows the desperate need for such a party. We are the only party taking part in these demonstrations that is putting forward a clear socialist message including this demand. But we can only continue to do so with your donations.
Your donation at Socialism will play an important part in making sure we are able reach out to many more thousands with our socialist ideas.
