Britain is no longer in a recession. The economy has grown a whopping 0.1%, Woo-hoo!

The economy stagnates and the bosses try to maintain their profits by forcing working-class people to take the hit. That means trying to make us accept poverty wages, more hours, worse public services and infrastructure that’s falling apart.

And, like running on a treadmill, we’ve got to keep fighting for wage increases that keep up with the cost of living. Its not just olive oil that’s doubled in price – bread and butter have shot up as well. The injustice of a system which puts profit above all else is clear to see.

Workers fighting collectively have got better pay offers than their bosses originally offered them, but why should we have to fight every year just to scrape by? Workers democratically deciding themselves what we produce, what wages we pay and what services we all need, not what makes a profit from the bosses or they can be forced to grant. A socialist society would put the economic chaos of capitalism firmly in the past.
