Before the general election was called, the Socialist Party launched its general election fund campaign. We set the aim of reaching £50,000 to fund 30-40 Socialist Party members, as part of the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC), as well as our party’s campaigning nationwide.
A sign of the huge enthusiasm for it, and the fighting determination of our members and supporters, £97,772.60 has been pledged as the Socialist goes to press!
We took part in the general election as crucial preparation for what is to come – more working-class and young people learning through experience that, to defend and extend our lives and livelihoods, we need a party of our own, fighting for a socialist programme.
Thanks to your donations helping to fund our Royal Mail mailouts, our campaign material reached two million households, presenting socialist ideas, and how they can be fought for. The Socialist Party hosted dozens of public meetings, inviting people to come and discuss with us the way forward.
The working class has defeated the Tories. Now the struggle is on for workers’ interests under Keir Starmer’s Labour government. Socialist ideas will be vital, and your donations have put us in a stronger position to fight for them.
