Teesside branch campaigning earlier in the year

Daniel Forrest, Teesside Socialist Party

It’s January, everyone is cold, miserable, and skint. So I decided to warm your spirits with what’s happening from Teesside Socialist Party.

The progress we’ve made over the last year puts us in position for 2025 to expand our membership, campaign stalls, and capability as a Socialist Party branch. We started the year with a bang, our first branch meeting discussion topics varying from ‘state and revolution’, to the ongoing crisis in Syria

We attended the anti-Trump women’s protest in Middlesbrough. We were well received by protesters.

It was encouraging to see several of the young women and trade unionists on the march carrying the Socialist paper. Contrary to what some may believe, socialism is alive and well among working-class youth.

Days after, our Socialist Party branch held its annual general meeting. A new branch committee was elected, with two of our young members taking up positions in the branch.

Our mixture of experienced members, youthful vigour, and fighting spirit is a winning combination. It was last year, and it will be this year too. With multiple young people wanting to become members soon, and an increasing reach and confidence of our membership, the sky is the limit. Other Socialist Party branches have the potential for rapid growth too.

Time and history marches on, we are hot in pursuit.
